With Kurt Crebbin, Physiotherapist
As we step into spring and start preparing for a healthy summer, it’s important to track your progress to make sure you’re on the right path. One of the best ways to do this is by using outcome measures. These are tools that help us see how well things are going, whether it’s your workout routine or your recovery/rehab plan.
At The Joint, we use two key pieces of technology to measure progress: the SOZO (bio-impedence body composition scan) and the Tindeq Progressor (strength dynamometer). The SOZO is fantastic for giving us a detailed breakdown of your body composition, which includes muscle mass, fat mass, proteins and minerals and your overall hydration level. Meanwhile, the Tindeq Progressor is perfect for safely measuring the strength in various muscle groups, allowing us to see how strong you really are.
By tracking body composition with SOZO and strength with Tindeq, we get a clear picture of your overall health. They are very useful in the initial stages of your treatment plan as we can see how you compare to age and gender matched standardised data that has already been collected. This helps us to personalise your training or rehab. We can also use these outcome measures to ensure that you’re progressing in the right direction, because we can track changes more closely over time.
Your Physiotherapist can discuss how best to incorporate these two measurements into your plan at your next appointment!
